The International Life Saving Federation (ILS) is the world's non-profit association of aquatic Lifesavers and aquatic Lifesaving organizations.

The International Life Saving Federation of Europe (ILSE) is the European branch of ILS. ILSE is an umbrella organisation, representing federations working in the field of Water Safety in Europe. Our members are representing more than 5 millions of Lifesavers and Lifeguards all over Europe. If you need specific information about Lifesaving in a particular nation, please contact our members or refer to the relevant website.

Through our own work and that of our member federations, we lead the global effort to reduce injury and death in, on or around the water. We aid in the global exchange of lifesaving information, promote the best lifesaving practices, help to establish lifesaving organizations in areas of Europe where they are needed, act as the European federation for lifesaving sport and work with other international bodies with similar goals.

ILSE calls for EU-funded accident and injury data system

On the occasion of the 15th European Consumer Day, organised by the European Economic and Social Committee on 14 March 2013 in Brussels, ILSE in a coalition with 27 other European umbrella organisations launched a Joint Call urging European Institutions and the Member States to create an EU-funded accident & injury data system under the co-ordination of the European Commission.

ILSE supports Conference SAR Europe 2013

Conference Search and Rescue Europe 2013, organized in Portsmouth (UK) from March 19 to 21, 2013 by International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) and also supported by ILSE.

ILSE Commission Meetings and 4th EQF Seminar in Prague

The ILSE Commissions Education, Rescue, Sport and Management and Administration meet regularly in January – this year at the Hotel Century Old Town in Prague, Czech Republik from 17th to 20th of January 2013 and in conjunction with the 4th Seminar of the ILSE EU Project "Safer Europe by higher qualified Lifeguards".
It has been the first meeting of the new appointed Commissions after the ILSE General Assembly in August 2012, some new faces were seen. The meetings of the 52 representatives of the member associations took place in a very good and constructive atmosphere.
