The annual ILSE Board of Directors Meeting took place May 12th – 14th, 2017, in Malaga, Spain, in a pleasant and well organised atmosphere.
ILSE Board of Directors confirmed the efforts of ILSE Education Commission to build twinning projects between Members of Education Commission and dormant ILSE Members to start a dialogue and renew their work in ILSE.
Board agreed the proposed Guidelines for Pool Safety Risk Assessments and enabled ILSE Rescue Commission to promote the safety standards in pool facilities.
Chair of ILSE Sport Commission, Bob Dekkers, presented the ongoing work for European Lifesaving Championships Youth, which will take place in Ireland in 2018.
Board agreed the Strategic Development Plan, worked out by Management and Administration Commission for the ongoing period of office and decided to implement a workshop in addition to the annual Best-Practice-Seminar of MAC.
Several applications for funding by ILSE Support Programme were discussed, some of the supported projects are:
– research-project Lifesaving drones in Sweden
– ongoing development of web-based Risk Assessment System and
inclusion of Risk Assessment Pool Safety
– workshop on ‘the future of European Lifesaving and lifeguards certifications’
President Dr. Detlev Mohr thanked Isabel Garcia, Presidencia of ILSE Member Real Real Federación Española de Salvamento y Socorrismo (RFESS), and her team, especially Marta Cuetos, Secretaría Deportiva of RFESS, for the excellent and successfull organisation of the meetings and a surprising evening in Malaga.
