FEPONS Portugal creates Lifesaving Sport category für athletes aged 8-10, start December 8th, 2023

The Portuguese Lifesaving Federation will integrate a promotion category, for athletes aged 8 to 10, in the national short pool lifesaving sport championship, which will take place on December 8, 2023 in the municipal swimming pools of Coruche.
This category aims to promote the practice of the sport and education for water safety, consisting of the 50m Tow with fins (25m with fins and rescue tube + closing the rescue tube + 25m with fins and pulling the rescue tube closed) and the 50m Manikin Carry with fins (25m with fins + grabbing the empty manikin + 25m towing the empty manikin), with participation certificates for everyone.
Participation requires being a student at an “Aquatic Safety School”, an athlete from a Lifeguard Association or having participated in a “Junior Lifeguard” program.
