The ILSE Board of Directors came from 8th till 10th of May 2009 to Paralimini (Cyprus) for its annual meeting in the spring. The meeting took place in a very good atmosphere. The Board of Directors decided unanimously
- to improve the communication strategy for water safety
- to nominate a member of the Rescue Commision for the CEN Committee TC 136
- to promote the risk assessments for beaches to identify the hazards and to reduce the number of drownings
- to simplify the program for European Lifesaving Championships
- that the European Championships for Juniors 2009 will take place in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) at September 4th to 6th, 2009
- that the European Championships for Juniors 2011 will take place in Copenhagen (Denmark) at August 18th to 21st, 2011, in case that the inspection of the Sport Commission will have been successfull
Further topics were:
- the improvement of the co-operation with other partners for water safety and drowning prevention
- the call for hosting the European Championships for Juniors in 2010 and the next European Championships for National Teams in 2011
- the ILSE activities in the European Year of the Volunteers 2011
The meeting was perfect organised by the Cypriotic Lifesaving. The ILSE President Dr. Klaus Wilkens thanked the host federation for their great hospitality.
