The Hellenic Red Cross – Division of Samaritans, Rescuers and Lifeguards has mobilized its volunteers and recourses to support HRC and IFRC operations nationwide.
Especially at the island of Lesbos and regarding Water Rescue and Drowning Prevention, Red Cross – Division of Samaritans, Rescuers and Lifeguards has placed teams of volunteers from all over Greece, providing assistance in a rotation system per week.
Those teams patrol the beaches, report to the Hellenic Coastguard when boats are on distress away from the coast, and provide assistance/rescue when people are near the coast.
Additionally to rescue services, they provide first aid and support their transport to Emergency Shelters and/or Medical Stations for further support.
