ILSE mourns the passing of Pedro Walch den Tuinder

We are informed of the passing away on 14 March 2020 of Pedro Walch den Tuinder, ILS Knight in the Order of Lifesaving, former ILS Board Member from 1993 to 2000 and Member of the ILSE Board. Pedro Walch was also the President of the Spanish Lifesaving Federation. He was awarded to the ILSE Certificate of Merit in 2002.

Pedro entered the lifesaving movement in 1958. He was board member of the Spanish Federation from 1990 to 1996 and President from 1996 to 2000. He was Board Member of FIS from 1984 to 1993 and Board Member from the ILS from 1993 to 2000. He was a Member of the fusion commission that brought together FIS and WLS to form the ILS in 1993. Being on holiday in Pontevedra – Galicia in the West of Spain, he fell victim to the COVID-19 virus. The Lifesaving Family sends its condolences to his family.

  1. This is very sad news. Another fine brother was the victim of this devastating crisis.
    May his sould leave in peace. If possible to his colleagues and fellows in ILSE or Spain, please send me any text and photos about Pedro to make a tribute article in the e-magazine “Sport Lifesaver” to honor his lifetime achievements and contribute to the preservation of his loving memory. This is the last we can do here in Greece for such dedicated servant of lifesaving.
