The European Resuscitation Council published COVID-19 Guidelines on April 24, 2020, and will be subject to evolving knowledge and experience of COVID-19.

Several ILSE Members deploy the local and national lifeguards on to the beaches in the next weeks or next month. Recommendations were prepared to instruct the lifeguards and to inform the public.

In April and Mai 2020 the position statement of the International Drowning Researchers’ Alliance (IDRA), International Life Saving Federation – Medical Committee (ILS-MC) and International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) was presented. The COVID-19 places many common drowning resuscitation procedures into a different perspective. Alternative procedures are being implemented but have not yet been tested or validated for applicability. It is expected that during the next month more Information will become available.
