PORTUGUESE LONG COURSE POOL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 6 NEW NATIONAL RECORDS

ILSE Member Federação Portuguesa de Nadadores Salvadores (FEPONS), Portugal, organised a national competition in Vila Franca de Xira on the 19th of March. The national championships of lifesaving sport – long course pool, was the return of the modality to the 50m pools with many young athletes and commitment.

6 new national records were recorded:

  • Diogo Relvas, Pedro Coelho (CORAL) in Line Throw Absolute with 0:12.69 beating the previous record of 0:13.78;
  • Mariana Pedras (SEAGULL) in the 100m Manikin Tow with Fins Júnior with 1:37.13 beating the previous record of 1:40.80;
  • Lucas Agostinho (BÚZIOS) in the 100m Manikin Tow with Fins Júnior with 1:03.47, beating the previous record of 1:04.21, which also became an absolute record;
  • João Conrado (BÚZIOS) in the 100m Manikin Carry with Fins Júnior with 0:58.78, beating the previous record of 0:59.84;
  • Mariana Pedras (SEAGULL) in the 50m Manikin Carry Júnior with 0:56.06 beating the previous record of 1:01.05;
  • João Conrado (BÚZIOS) in the 50m Manikin Carry Júnior with 0:36.10, beating the previous record of 0:43.74.


There were also 16 first national records:

  • Inês Cardoso (DESMOR) and Francisco Matias (BÚZIOS) in the 200m Obstacle, the 100m Manikin Tow with Fins and the 100m Manikin carry with Fins;
  • Carlota Chainho (SEAGULL) and Guilherme Peixeiro (SEAGULL) in the 100m Tow with Fins;
  • Nicole Parreira (SEAGULL) and Miguel Gomes (SEAGULL) in the 100m Manikin carry with Fins;
  • Simão Cordeiro, Miguel Joaquim, Guilherme Peixeiro, Daniel Pratas (SEAGULL) in the 4x25m Manikin Relay;
  • Nicole Parreira, Eva Matias, Inês Silvério, Carlota Chainho (SEAGULL) and Miguel Gomes, João Dias, Miguel Joaquim, Daniel Pratas (SEAGULL) in the 4x50m Medley Relay;
  • Nicole Parreira, Simão Cordeiro, Carlota Chainho, Guilherme Peixeiro (SEAGULL), Eva Matias, João Dias, Miguel Gomes, Inês Silvério (SEAGULL) and Camila Cardoso, João Porto, Mateus Heleno, Mariana Pedras (SEAGULL) in the 4 x 50m Mixed Pool Lifesaver Relay.

In collective terms, the best female team was SEAGULL RESCUE – Grândola, the best male team BÚZIOS – Coruche and the absolute best team SEAGULL RESCUE – Grândola.
