ILSE has to inform about the passing away of our Swedish friend Bertil Werner, a Grand Knight of ILS and Vice President of the former Fédération Internationale de Sauvetage Aquatique (FIS). Bertil was a Member of the ILS Board of Directors since the beginning, until he stepped down in 2008. He was awarded with the European Order of Lifesaving Medal Gold in 2016 and received the Certificate of Merit of ILSE in 2002.
From 1984 to 1989 Bertil Werner was Member of the FIS Board, later until 1994 he was Vice President of the FIS. After the foundation of ILSE he acted as Vice President of the ILSE Board of Directors.
We would like to thank him for his longstanding efforts and commitments to the International Life Saving. We are remembering his exceptional Service for Lifesaving in Europe.
